Emotional Purity: an Affair of the Heart

Emotional Purity: an Affair of the Heart was written by Heather Arnel Paulson. I read it several years ago when it had a different cover. God wants us to be pure in all our relationships. This includes staying pure in all aspects of a relationship with the opposite gender. This book is perfect for single men and women seeking answers to how intimate they can become in casual friendships and while dating. Some of the chapter headings include: Emotional Intimacy, Emotional Purity, Defrauding, Just Friends, The Envy Monster, God's Plan for Your Single Years.

Boyhood and Beyond & Created for Work

Boyhood and Beyond along with Created for Work by Bob Schultz were on my book wish-list for a long time. I finally went ahead and ordered them. It is more difficult to find good books about raising boys than girls. Boyhood and Beyond: Practical Wisdom for Becoming a Man is geared towards younger boys (from age 10-18), to motivate them to start on the road to becoming spiritual men. Created for Work: Practical Insights for Young Men, for young men a little older (starting at age 12), is about developing "a healthy attitude toward work". Both books are designed to be read a little at a time: short chapters with discussion questions at the end. These books would be great for fathers and sons reading aloud together or for young people's group discussions. These books are truly a blessing for those trying to raise Godly men!

Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends

Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends: How to Fight the GOOD Fight at Home! by Sarah, Stephen, and Grace Mally is a must-have for any family with multiple siblings. It's one of those books that you read and say with a sigh, "If only I had this when I was young." The good news is that you still may bless your own children and grandchildren with the messages found in this book. The book emphasizes more than just getting along with siblings, rather loving and serving them for the glory of God.

Cornelia's Story

I read Cornelia's Story: Her Life in the Caesarea Ecclesia in the Sixties A.D. a few years ago and really enjoyed it. It wasn't the type of fictionalized Biblical books I've skimmed and disliked because of stretching God's Word. Instead this Christadelphian written book gives us a realistic picture of what it was like to live as Brethren right after Christ's time. "Cornelia's Story is told to us by a 'typical' young believer in the decade of the sixties AD. Our imaginary young sister was baptized in AD 57 by the ecclesia in the city of Caesarea where she lived with her parents." This book was written to express that young people have always had the same struggles and that the Scriptures are relevant to our day and age.
